Students learn value of money, importance of saving

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -
With the decline in the economy in recent years, more students of all ages are learning the value of a dollar and the importance of saving.
Nashville's News 2 recently visited students at Lipscomb Elementary in Williamson County to see if third graders understand how much things cost.
The students were asked what they would do if they were given $10.
"[I'd buy] maybe a toy or something like that," third grader Emma said.
Fellow classmate Michael Sheridan added, "[I'd buy] stuff because I couldn't buy a video game with that much."
One child, however, had a different idea on what she would do.
"I'd save it," Megan said.
