Where to look for a job as a college student

You can save time and make your job search more efficient by looking for work in places where graduate jobs are being advertised. For example, there are three main ways you can forge your way into the job market as a graduate:

1. Top college graduate employers. There are certain companies which will hire a large number of college graduates each year. You can find a list of these employers on www.collegegrad.com and this can help you target your applications to the employers who are specifically looking for graduates. You can also check with your campus career office to see if any of these employers will be interviewing on campus or collecting résumés from students.

2. Internships. You don’t have to jump straight from the comfortable life of a student to the daily grind of full time work when you graduate, instead you can ease into work by completing an internship. An internship can be part time and short term, and is a way to try out a new job before committing to permanent employment.

3. Online job searches. The internet will also make your job hunt faster and easier as there are a number of sites dedicated to graduate jobs, and places where you can post your résumé to attract potential employers.
